Company History

fam1

Our company was founded in 1934 by William Becker, with a small office in downtown Cincinnati, selling meters for the Neptune Meter Company. The idea of selling meters through an independent company was new to Neptune Meter, so the name Neptune was given to this “distributor”. With his wife Clara in the office, Bill began selling meters to the surrounding communities.

bob1In 1956, ownership passed to Bob Becker. By then, Neptune Equipment was a full line stocking distributor, selling Neptune water and industrial flowmeters. The territory grew to include half of the states of Ohio and Kentucky.

In 1996, Mary Ellen Shouse and Bob Becker Jr. became the third generation owners.  Since that time, the company has grown nearly tenfold, serving the entire states of Ohio and Kentucky. We moved into our present location in 2006, giving us room for additional expansion.

Our Field Services Division has been critical to our growth. Established in 1995, it has given us the ability to offer turn key solutions from a company. We are uniquely qualified to offer our customers the comfort of knowing that the company performing the initial project will continue to support the system for decades to come. In addition to meter replacement, we offer meter testing, meter reading, GPS locating, and other related services. We will continue to expand this portion of our business, looking for additional services to provide that will allow our customers to make the most effective use of their resources.

In 2002, we became a “Level One” Distributor for the Neptune Technology Group. This designation requires us to maintain trained personnel to sell and support Neptune’s meter reading systems. We are certified to implement and train our customers as well as to provide ongoing system support.

The recent addition of AY McDonald Mfg. to our offering gives us a broader product line while maintaining our focus at the meter site. Their product quality and unmatched customer service are evident and we look forward to a great relationship with them.

We’ve come a long way in 74 years, and for that we are grateful.
